Game Thread #96: Oakland Athletics at New York Mets

MLB: Cleveland Indians at Oakland Athletics Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Friday and welcome to another Friday night game thread! Well, since most of us don’t live in New York (I assume), it’s actually a Friday afternoon game thread, which means we have plenty of time to celebrate, or drink, after the game.

Welcome to New York; the A’s are in the Big Apple at Citi Field, playing the Mets. It was such a lovely A’s win last Friday as they kicked off what would eventually be a sweep of the Indians; I’m hoping for more of the same today. The A’s, although still in the cellar, have been playing much better baseball lately; without Tuesday night’s horrifying loss, they would have been 7-3 in their last 10 games. As it is, they are 6-4, and just two games from climbing into fourth place.

Taking the mound for the A’s today is Paul Blackburn, who has been great so far in the starting rotation. He will be facing off against Steven Matz, who had a tough outing in his last, so hopefully the A’s can take advantage early.

Here are your lineups:
