Game Thread #60: Oakland Athletics at Tampa Bay Rays

Andrew Triggs looks to bounce back after a rocky start last week (coincidentally, my last Friday night recap) where he let himself down, the defense set him up, and the whole game was historically awful as the A's struck out every at-bat (it appeared). We hope for a better opening to the series tonight!

Good afternoon and Happy Friday! The A's will be starting in an afternoon special tonight, brought to you all the way from Florida. Andrew Triggs will hope the change of scenery will help his pitching after a completely abysmal start last week. The good news is that the A's are playing better; they won their last series and nearly won the one before that, falling just short in the ninth inning.

Triggs will face off against Alex Cobb.

Yes, I know that this thread will go from 4:00PM - 6:00PM and all eyes will turn to Cleveland, OH, as the Warriors try to complete a historic sweep of the playoffs, so let's enjoy each other's company before we start basketball. Or alternatively, let's turn tonight's game thread into a duel-sport gem. Your call.

The A's aren't anything to write home about; they are still in the cellar and no one is catching the Houston Astros this year, but I think they have the potential to string some wins together and perhaps climb back to .500. They're seven games from that goal.

And hey! The new guy's batting ninth!
