Game Thread #56: Athletics vs. Nationals

Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Sunday A's fans! The A's haven't played well lately, but after busting out for ten runs yesterday, we'll look to make it two wins in a row and grab the series victory Sunday afternoon against the Nationals. It's another Sonny Sunday; with the A's looking increasingly out of playoff contention, my focus has turned to what kind of trade package Sonny can bring back next month.

It's been an up and down season for Gray, but he's shown plenty of signs of the ace the world knew prior to last season. He's up against it today, having to pitch through the likes of Harper, Turner, Murphy, and the flyball-revitalized Ryan Zimmerman. Tanner Roark starts for Washington and is having an up and down season himself. Perhaps this regression was to be expected though - he outpitched his FIP by nearly a run last season. No matter what, we should enjoy the chance to watch a few of the game's brightest young stars. First pitch is at 1:05. Let's go A's!
