We're coming to you with another installation of Breakfast Baseball, luckily, because this road trip can't end soon enough. Also, there's another Oakland-Cleveland matchup going on tonight that would *probably* draw some viewership away from the baseball game. Both games games could feature a baby-faced assassin.
Jharel Cotton will take the mound for the A's. His big league ERA on the season sits at 5.56. In his first start back from the minors on May 27th, the youngster had the distinct pleasure of making his first career start at Yankee Stadium. It was clear the nerves got to him in the first inning when he walked and hit batters and threw a wild pitch. Despite this, he technically took his no-hitter into the 6th. Baseball is weird. His only other mistake -- and ultimate downfall -- was a Matt "I hate Oakland" Holliday three-run homer. Whoops.
It's clear that Cotton has major potential, and there shouldn't be anything in Cleveland to psych him out. I'm expecting big things.
That being said, the Tribe is sending out some guy named Corey Kluber, who I hear is pretty good.
Although he's got a 5.06 ERA, Kluber is still striking out 26% of batters. This will be his first start back off the DL after missing most of May with a lower back strain.
Chad Pinder look to continue his hot streak and will get the start at second base with Lowrie getting the day off:
The A's will try to split the series and hopefully make like these sunflower seeds and baby powder and rain on the man who never smiles:
If you're looking to blow three hours of your workday, pour yourself some coffee and pull up the game!
