Game Thread #26: A's at Twins

It's a new month, new week, and new series, and that's good enough for us.

Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

But wait! it doesn't have to be good enough, because Sonny Gray is coming off the disabled list to make his season debut. It's been a dark and twisty start to the season so far for this team, so maybe Sonny can shed some light (sorry).

Since recovering from his lat injury, Gray tossed a game a piece in Stockton and Nashville, and his final line was 11 innings, 0 runs, 13 strikeouts, and 3 hits. His fastball hit 94mph.

All this bodes well, so let's hope we see more of 2015 Sonny and less of his 2016 alter ego.

More things to be excited for:

  • Rajai Davis coming off the DL to (hopefully) infuse some life into the top of the order.
  • Trevor Plouffe wanting to beat his former team.
  • Games played in central time, just to keep us on our toes.

Today's Lineups

Rajai Davis - CF Brian Dozier - 2B
Matt Joyce - RF Max Kepler - RF
Jed Lowrie - 2B Miguel Sano - 3B
Khris Davis - LF Joe Mauer - 1B
Yonder Alonso - 1B Robbie Grossman - DH
Ryon Healy - DH Jason Castro - C
Stephen Vogt - C Jorge Polanco - SS
Trevor Plouffe - 3B Eddie Rosario - LF
Adam Rosales - SS Byron Buxton - CF
Sonny Gray - RHP Ervin Santana - RHP
Ervin Santana is anchoring the Twins' rotation at 4-0 with a 0.77 ERA through 35 innings pitch. He also has a whimsical outlook on life:

First pitch is at 5:10, please keep A's minor leaguer Casey Thomas and his family in your thoughts.
