Aliwatto's offseason plan

Arbitration Eligible Players:

Khris Davis - Tender - $11.1 Million

Marcus Semien - Tender - $3.2 Million

Blake Treinen - Tender - $2.3 Million

Liam Hendriks - Tender - $1.9 Million

Josh Phegley - Non Tender

Jake Smolinski - Non-Tender

So Oakland has about 40M to spend in free agency. I'm going to stay away from players that other people have mentioned a lot like Lorenzo Cain, Yelich, Sabathia, Avila, Piscotty. Although I would like a couple of them.

OAK receives:

CF Jacoby Ellsbury, Dellin Betances.

NYY receives:

3B Sheldon Neuse, RP Frankie Montas, Int bonus pool money.

Wow Oakland take a contract on from the yankees! Jacoby Ellsbury is scheduled to earn 21m for the next 3 seasons and 1 team option in 2021 with 5m buyout. His defense in center field would be an improvement over previous years for Oakland. His contract is huge for a team like Oakland, but by taking on his contract we get one of the best relief pitchers in baseball for 2 arb years, without giving up one of our top 10 prospects. Yankees get rid of a contract, for them to go after Harper, Machado, Donaldson in 2019. Oakland give up a blocked 3B prospect and a relief pitcher who throws 100mph but has question marks. We also chip in some international bonus money, so they can offer more for Ohtani. Betances proj arb is 4.4m

If Oakland don't have a good 1st half to the season, I could see them trying to trade both Ellsbury and Betances at the deadline. I think we could get a great haul for Betances, but Ellsbury we would have to kick in some money to get him off the roster. I think ultimately it's a good risk to take. Ellsbury also has a no trade clause but cant get on the field for the Yanks, so I guess it will come down to how much he likes to play ball.

FA Signings:

C Welington Castillo 2yrs/14M

SP Doug Fister 1yr/8M

Salary added for 2018: 40M

1. Sean Manaea

2. Kendall Graveman

3. Doug Fister

4. Jharel Cotton

5. Andrew Triggs

The rotation is still a weakness, but with Puk, Holmes and Fillmyer all coming up that might change by the end of the season.

I think Barreto will be up by midseason with Lowrie and Joyce traded, it looks an exciting team to me but let me know what you think.
