Today in Baseball History:
- 1907 - The Philadelphia Athletics’ Rube Vickers pitches a five-inning 4-0 perfect game against the Washington Senators. Vickers also wins the 15-inning first game of the twin bill, 4-2, with a spectacular 12-inning relief effort. The two wins are the only ones for Vickers this season.
- 1921 - In the first one-city World Series since 1906, the Polo Grounds is the site for all nine games. Carl Mays needs 86 pitches to set the Giants down on five hits -- four of them by Frank Frisch. Babe Ruth drives in the first run of the Series in the opening inning of the 3-0 Yankees win.

- D’Backs’ reliever Archie Bradley had a strange night...
Archie Bradley joins Dontrelle Willis, Tom Glavine, Dutch Ruether, Babe Ruth & Cy Young as pitchers with postseason triples.

I believe Archie Bradley is the first "Archie" to hit a triple in a big league game since Archie Wilson for Washington on May 26, 1952.
— Joe Posnanski (@JPosnanski) October 5, 2017
Archie Bradley had faced 201 hitters since June 1 - & gave up a HR to one of them. He then gave up 2 to the 1st 2 hitters in the 8th! #ycpb

No current #Rockies player had ever homered off #Dbacks Archie Bradley before this inning

Ketel Marte is the 8th player ever and 1st since 1993 to lace TWO triples in a single #postseason game. https://t.co/yv5d7tZ6Zu pic.twitter.com/3yLC94WBYB

- Kind of incredible...
Madison Bumgarner threw more innings by himself in last year's NL wild card game (9) than all four wild-card starters did this year (7 1/3).
