Game Thread #135: Athletics versus Red Sox

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Moving on from last night.

Daniel Mengden has yet to back down from any challenge that has stood in front of him. The mustachioed bulldog shot up the minor leagues this year, dominating at every level, and continued to display his dominance at the big league level right up until he ran out of stamina. Having spent the past few weeks in Nashville recuperating, Mengden has been building up his strength and energy yet again and looks to return to the majors with just as much fire as he broke into them with.

Going up against Daniel Mengden is Rick Porcello, Cy Young candidate and current eighteen game winner. Porcello has displayed impeccable command all season, sporting one of the lowest walk rates in the majors and potentially spelling trouble for the walk-averse A's offense. Yoan Moncada, top prospect sensation, will be making his first major league start at third base after making his debut off the bench last night.

First pitch is just after six. Lineups are below.
