Pitching for Oakland is Sean Manaea. Manaea left his previous game on 8/29 in the 4th inning. This gave everyone quite the scare due to his injury history, but fortunately it proved to just be a rhomboid strain. His back is evidently feeling better and hopefully he can continue his strong rookie campaign, which has shown significant improvement in the last couple of months.
Taking the mound for Kansas City is Yordano Ventura. He's been having a decent year, though I think most of us think of him not for his numbers but for the Brett Lawrie HBP incident last year, and just generally the many other times things have blown up with him. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail with the A's rookies.
