With the A's and Cubs donning throwback uniforms, for today's game, it is recommended that fans mentally turn back the clock to a time when the A's were actually good. With a long and enriched history, any A's fan from any era of baseball could have fond memories to look back upon. The newest A's fans can look back on the miracle 2012 team and their three year run, but those who have been following the team for a whole lot longer is likely to remember the Bash Brothers and the dominant A's teams of the late 1980's, an era that will be celebrated tonight.
A's starter Sonny Gray would certainly like to throwback to any of his earlier seasons when he gave the team a chance to win in every single start. Against an incredibly potent Chicago Cubs lineup, who easily felled the struggling Dillon Overton last night, Gray will be put to the test. Opposing Gray on the mound will be Jake Arrietta, who has been merely great this season rather than historically great. Lineups are below. First pitch is at 1:05.
