Game Thread #109: Oakland Athletics vs. Chicago Cubs

It's the start of a brand-new series as the A's face off against the (nearly-guaranteed) playoff-bound Chicago Cubs tonight in Oakland. I would expect the Cubs to draw big, even in Oakland, as they visit the Coliseum for a summer weekend series.

Lance Iversen-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Friday and welcome to another great night of A's baseball! The A's managed to win one last night after butchering the series, but they're looking to play well in front of the crowds this weekend.

Starting on the mound tonight for the A's will be the lefty Dillon Overton, who really hasn't pitched well at the Major League level; his last game was a disaster; five runs in just over three innings.

Meanwhile, the A's will be trying to hit Jon Lester, and no, I don't really want to talk about him. Or the good old days. Let's just play this game, shall we?

I am currently watching this game from the Dodgers/Red Sox game, where I will be able to cheer for Josh Reddick.

Here's to a good start to the weekend.
