Game Thread #129: Oakland Athletics at St. Louis Cardinals

We join the A's, already in progress in a series in St. Louis, as they take on the Cardinals, in an effort to be more exciting that last night. Watching grass grow, or paint dry, is bound to be more exciting than last night, so the bar? She is low.

Kenny Karst-USA TODAY Sports

Good afternoon and Happy Saturday to you all. I hope you are all enjoying your late-summer weekend; the last before Labor Day. It already feels more like Fall today (but not for long, I'm sure) in Los Angeles, and the Bay Area has been positively dreamy. Meanwhile, in St. Louis, it's 90 degrees, but with the August humidity, it feels more like 100.

See, A's? You've reduced me to talking about THE WEATHER. I hope you're proud of yourselves. Instead of talking about new rookies, or interestingly story-lines, I'm taking about the weather. Oh yeah, and Zach Neal. He's pitching. This will be the rookie's fifth start for the A's; his 14th appearance. He has a total of four strikeouts his last three starts, and he's been good for 4-5 innings, 4-5 runs an outing in the big leagues, but he was pretty good in Triple-A, just not a strikeout pitcher at all.

Here are today's lineups:
