Game Thread #114: A's vs. Orioles

We've already averted a series loss. Dare we dream of a series win?

Kenny Karst-USA TODAY Sports

Two games against a dominant Orioles team, two inexplicable wins. I don't know how deep Zach Neal had to dig to produce his fantastic performance last night, but I think it's safe to say that he far surpassed all of our expectations by holding the Orioles to a mere two hits, one run through more than 5 innings.

If you enjoy girding your loins, you've come to the right place. Not much girding was necessary for Graveman on Monday, as he has actually been quite good for a couple of months now. Yesterday with Neal was the girding appetizer, a plate of steamed asparagus with HollandA'se sauce. Tonight is the main course: brA'sed Ross Detwiler loins, twice-girded. He was Loss Detwiler with the Rangers last year, but hopefully no more. In case you didn't catch the microtransaction that brought him to the A's, we just got Detwiler from Cleveland on July 17 for cash. Detwiler takes the mound against the Orioles' Yovani Gallardo, who has been having a rather poor season with an unsightly 5.47 ERA to match Detwiler's 5.79 ERA (from the bullpen!) with Cleveland.

LOINS HERE - GET YOUR GIRDED LOINS WHILE THEY'RE HOT!

Sorry y'all, I wrote this while hungry.
