Game Thread #80: Oakland Athletics vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Sonny Gray and the A's will try to continue the A's winning ways as he takes the mound tonight against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The A's are fresh off a four game series win (that should have been a sweep) against the Angels in Anaheim and they returned to the Bay Area to also take the first three out of four against the Giants. It's been a lovely week, and that's not sarcasm. This week has made baseball fun again.

Happy Friday and welcome to the Friday night game thread of a long, holiday-filled three day weekend! Happy Fourth, America! I haven't actually boarded the train to the second half of the season; talk to me when .500 approaches the station, but I will concede that the A's are playing better baseball, and right up until last night's game, this week of baseball was pretty awesome.

Tonight, the A's open a series against the National League, in the person of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Sonny Gray will take the mound against the Buccaneers tonight, facing off against Jeff Locke. Locke has been pretty great recently, and the A's are hoping Sonny Gray can continue to recover last year's form.
