Game Thread #59: A's at Brewers

The A's try to find their footing and split the series against the Brewers.

Welcome everyone to Wednesday night baseball from the great state of Wisconsin.

Last night's game was ugly, from the A's nonexistent offense the first 6 2/3 innings to more inexplicable Stephen Vogt pitch calling to a patented 9th inning teAse. At least tonight should be better, right?

*vomits*

After getting no-hit into the 7th inning last night, the A's are coming right back with the same offensive husk today. Admittedly, options are running low with obvious backup position players like Mark Canha out of the picture, but I die a little bit with every Yonder Alonso first-pitch groundout and Chris Coghlan anything. And now that I've said that, Coghlan will hit like 3 home runs tonight. Please. I'm begging you, Cobra.

Throwing the leather-bound cork sphere for Oakland tonight is Jesse Hahn. Hahn had Oakland's worst pitching performance of the season this past weekend against the Houston Astros, giving up 7 runs before getting pulled without even finishing the first inning. There's nowhere to go but up for Hahn, and we at least get the entertainment of watching an AL pitcher try to hit tonight.

Pitching for the Brewers is right-handed pitcher Chase Anderson. Anderson's numbers this season have overall been pretty pedestrian, but he has looked sharper over his last several starts and has been putting up great numbers against left-handed batters.
