Game Thread #55: A's at Astros

The A's look to make it six in a row against the quietly streaking Astros.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Did you know the Astros went 17-12 in May? That's the kind of number you expect from a playoff team, one many of us predicted the 'Stros would be again this year.

This is a big series for the A's. They've clawed and scratched and Twin'd their way back near .500 but to truly turn from pretenders to contenders, from sellers to not-sellers, they need to climb that .500 hurdle. This series will be telling on that front.

For the A's, it's Jesse Hahn, who we all hope has it going on. He's talented but has taken some time to acclimate back from his forearm injury last year. Today would be an excellent day to see peak Jesse Hahn. For the Astros, it's the resurgent Doug Fister. After a bad April, Fister looked like the groundball machine of old in May. Can he keep the A's in tiny Orange Juice stadium?
