This series has been fun, hasn't it?
The A's are going for yet another sweep today, their third of the season. And, of course, a sweep of the Astros would be doubly significant because of the Astros' awful start (7-17). The A's have the chance to put a key contender for the division away. A series win is always nice, but I'm only satisfied with a sweep here, folks.
The pitching matchup today is especially conducive to this. I'm not saying the A's absolutely have to win a Doug Fister (1-3, 5.56) vs. Rich Hill (3-2, 2.42), but it would be very embarrassing if they did not. Rich Hill is, apparently, one of the five best pitchers in the American League. Doug Fister is... not.
I'm just saying, a win today goes a long way to make the Astros an afterthought. And you're not going to get a more favorable matchup than this.
Here are the lineups. Pretty typical today, no real surprises.
