Game Thread #5: Oakland Athletics at Seattle Mariners

Ohhhhhhh boy! Our first Friday night game thread of the season! On this rainy day (in Southern California, at least), it seems like the perfect time to open that bottle of wine (Tobin James Cabernet, here) and get the party started with a little baseball. Granted, the A's have started the season in the same fashion in which they ended the last, but I'm looking for a second win tonight.

Good evening, Happy Friday, and welcome to a delightful night of division baseball, featuring your 2016 Oakland Athletics (looking horrifyingly similar to last year). It's still early, as we've reached game 5, and the A's are hoping to pick up their second win; the first without Sonny Gray on the mound.

Tonight's starter is...(checks lineup)...Eric Surkamp. No, but seriously? Seriously? And the season isn't even a week old? It might be a long (or really short) night.

Surkamp will be facing off against the Mariners' righty, Taijuan Walker. The A's will attempt to score more than a run. If you'd like an excellent game preview, look no further. The Mariners won their first series of the year, while the A's have won but a single game out of the first four. Here's to hoping.

Here are your lineups:

The Seattle Mariners:

1. Norichika Aoki (L) LF

2. Ketel Marte (S) SS

3. Robinson Cano (L) 2B

4. Nelson Cruz (R) RF

5. Kyle Seager (L) 3B

6. Chris Iannetta (R) C

7. Franklin Gutierrez (R) DH

8. Dae-Ho Lee (R) 1B

9. Leonys Martin (L) CF
