What a difference a week makes, am I right? This time just last week, we were starting the second Friday night game thread of the year; a game the A's would eventually lose to top off a four-game losing streak; looking for all the world like 2015 all over again as they were lifelessly swept by the Angels and lost the first game to the defending champion Royals.
But then, something strange happened.
The A's mounted a comeback in the series and to everyone's surprise--including the Royals--they won Saturday and Sunday's games to take the series 2-1. Even more impressive than that; the A's stormed into Yankee Stadium during the week and swept the Yankees for the first time at home in ten years. Riding high on a five-game win streak, the A's crossed the border into Canada and will try to keep their perfect road record intact by beating the Blue Jays, who, in notable news, have just lost Chris Colabello for eighty games, for failing a PED test back in March.
Sonny Gray will take the mound for the A's today, as they go for their sixth win in a row; a modest winning streak to be sure, but did you remember that the A's haven't been 2 games over .500 since 2014? I'll take it. The A's lineup will face off against Aaron Sanchez, who has been very good so far for Toronto.
Canha will sit tonight, but both Burns and Crisp will be playing tonight, as Coghlan will be filling in at third until Valencia returns, an unfortunate injury to be sure.
