The Atlanta Braves have named Ron Washington their new third base coach, ending his one-plus year run as the third base and infield coach for the Oakland Athletics. Washington had been a candidate for Atlanta’s managerial job, but the Braves elected to retain Brian Snitker, dropping his “interim” status:

Ron Washington was instrumental in turning Marcus Semien into a serviceable major league shortstop after a series of early-year 2015 errors led to the A’s hiring Wash initially as a special infield instructor. Washington took over third base coaching duties from Mike Gallego on August 24, 2015.
Washington joins Boston Red Sox hitting coach Chili Davis as another A’s coach who has made a lateral move to another organization in recent years. The A’s have yet to announce their 2017 coaching staff.
