Oakland Athletics third baseman Danny Valencia has agreed to a one-year arbitration settlement, reports MLB Network's Jon Heyman:
danny valencia, a's agree at $3.15M
— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) January 14, 2016
The deal is a skosh below the $3.4 million projected by Matt Swartz for MLB Trade Rumors. The A's have two players who have filed for arbitration that have not yet reached agreement (MLBTR estimate): outfielder Josh Reddick ($7.0 MM) and reliever Fernando Rodriguez ($1.3 MM).
Players and clubs are due to exchange figures for arbitration on Friday, January 15 with hearings taking place between February 1-21. If the A's and players do not come to a settlement, an arbitration panel must choose either the club's or the player's submission, and cannot split the difference. The process is designed to produce a settlement.
