Final home game for the Nashville Sounds & pictures of First Tennessee Park

Over Labor Day weekend my wife and I had the opportunity to catch the last home game at First Tennessee Park for the Nashville Sounds. I took the opportunity to take some pictures of the park to share with all of you! It's a beautiful park that's pretty close to downtown Nashville. Our hotel shuttle dropped us off before the game, and we decided to walk back to the hotel (via a detour through Music Row) after the game. I must say, it was a pretty pleasant walk through downtown Nashville. OK. Enough of our escapades. Onto the stadium!

Here's the view from the outfield:

It had pretty wide concourses:

Each concession stand listed its offerings above the counters:

There was a pretty wide berm in left field for fans to spread out on their blankets:

The bullpens are next to the outfield:

The scoreboard is in the shape of a huge guitar:

Behind right field is the "Band Box" area that offers food, a bar and some games:

The seats are padded. This was both good news and bad news. The padding made the seat pretty comfortable, but since it was about 110 degrees with 200% humidity, it didn't allow for any airflow to cool you off at all!

The park was placed in the same location as the historic Sulphur Dell park:

The shop had a nice assortment of both Sounds and A's hats:

The game took place on a Thursday night, which is normally a "Throwback Thursday" where the Sounds wear the uniforms of the Vols (or Volunteers). It was also Fan Appreciation Night, since it was the last home game of the season. Also, before the game, some Sounds players were standing at each entrance to sign autographs and pose for pictures. As I entered, I didn't know who those guys were in the "Vols" uniforms and thought they may have been from the opposing team!

During the game, the scoreboard showed who was in the field. There were some familiar names out there!

The Sounds lost the game 8 - 3. They put up a small teAse in the 9th by scoring 2 runs, but it was too little too late!

After the game, we were treated to a fireworks show! I'll try to not compare it to an A's fireworks night, since there's no comparison whatsoever! In any case, it was a cute fireworks show:

That's it! I hope you enjoyed this photo tour of the ballpark!
