The Oakland Athletics have given the Milwaukee Brewers permission to interview assistant general manager Dan Kantrovitz for Milwaukee's general manager opening, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi. Kantrovitz re-joined the A's front office during the 2014-15 offseason before the Winter Meetings after Farhan Zaidi left to become the general manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Kantrovitz was previously the director of scouting for the St. Louis Cardinals from 2012-14, and prior to that was "with the A's from 2009-11 with responsibilities in international operations and baseball operations analysis." In his current role with the A's, Kantrovitz is focused on "overseeing statistical analysis for evaluating and targeting players in the amateur draft, free agent and trade markets."
FanGraphs' Kiley McDaniel recently opined that Kantrovitz was one of several ideal candidates for the Brewers to consider as the "younger, analytical-type GM" owner Mark Attanasio is looking for.
