Irish eyes are hopefully going to be smiling again at about 4pm today. LHP Sean Patrick Nolin will fight for his second win after a difficult loss in last Tuesday's 9/22/15 start against Texas. He has somewhat of an advantage in that the Giants have never faced Nolin in his young career. The 25 year-old is 1-1 beating Texas on September 12th for his first MLB career win. He's had a total of 6 MLB games, four of them with the A's this 2015 season, the other two split in Toronto in 2013 and 2014.
Nolin was on the seven-day disabled list for the Nashville Sounds in July of 2015 which is how he started 2015, still working on recovering from off-season bi-lateral core (shoulder) surgery. Pulled up to Oakland in September, Nolin now has 21.2 innings under his belt since joining the team. He has given up 22 hits and 10 walks and has recorded 12 strikeouts. His current WHIP is 1.48.
Meanwhile, the A's ready themselves for Chris Heston who has never faced the Athletics. He's currently 11-10 with an ERA of 3.51 and in 169 innings has 135 strikeouts. Heston was pulled up when Matt Cain went on the Disabled List at the end of August.
Big-ticket item for today's rubber match? Well, aside from winning? Stop Giants' Jarrett Parker from going yard for a third day in a row!
Here's today's starting lineup:
