Stephen Vogt returns to Oakland A's lineup as designated hitter

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Oakland Athletics catcher Stephen Vogt will bat sixth as the designated hitter in Sunday's contest against the Houston Astros. This is his first game back since sustaining a painful groin injury on a foul tip while catching for the A's on September 6. Vogt missed 12 games, in all.

Moving from designated hitter to first base is Billy Butler, while Mark Canha gets his first day off after making 35 consecutive starts dating back to August 12.

On the mound today for the A's is right-hander Aaron Brooks, while right-hander Collin McHugh will start for the Astros.
