Welcome A's fans! If you're a football fan, and you're still here, in the meaningless final chapter of the A's season on the first NFL Sunday…you must really love the A's.
Frankly as someone who has slowly been losing interest in the NFL for years, I wish we could fast forward to November, with the Pirates as World Champions, Warriors defending their title, and hot stove/winter meetings talk…but alas we have to watch this team.
So we might as well watch the few players that are going to be good. What the hell A's brass you got Mark Canha for Austin freaking House? Nice work. Marcus Semien has 20 games for the quest to end the season as a league average shortstop. Danny Valencia, for free?
That being said, we know this game doesn't matter, and thus feel free to bring your NFL talk here, or any other talk. I'm still in a fantasy league from 2002 or so as my last tie to the NFL so I'd welcome irrelevant fantasy talk.
No pants allowed.
The youngster Carson Blair gets another start, I suppose with Stephen Vogt on the shelf (dammit I wanted at least one guy with 20 homers…) it makes sense. Smolinski looking for revenge against the team that DFA'd him.
Prime pitching matchup with Doubront and Chi Chi Gonzalez…
Sarcasm aside I really like the pickup of Doubront. He's got a live arm and Curt Young can probably print a couple sandwiches that magically make him better.
