So, I was at the Coliseum for yesterday's debacle, which has more or less sapped my enthusiasm for the rest of this series. That being said we did pick up Danny Valencia. He's on the bench tonight but could actually be a good pinch hitting option against a lefty.
What would be really nice is if we could get Chris Bassitt a win. All that guy has done is pitch very well with nothing to show for it.
Mark Canha is playing right field, I believe for the first time this year. His arm isn't that bad, so I think it's fine, but the different angle might trip him up. Hopefully he can handle it. Anyway now's the time to see if he can play a competent RF. Ike Davis, our sub-replacement first baseman, continues to "earn" starts. What the heck get this guy off my team already.
The Orioles' lineup is so beastly, especially in comparison to the A's. Seeing them tee off in person emphatically drove that realization home. On the Nico scale, we're heavy on the chaff.
If Coco continues his solid play that will at least be somewhat satisfying. If these last two months show us that Coco can still be a useful player next year, that would be great. Odds are against that but who knows?
