Game Thread #116: A's at Blue Jays

Sonny Gray's scratch means Jesse Chavez goes for the A's, looking to avoid a sweep north of the border.

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

After taking three of four from division leading Houston, the A's have dropped their first two contests against the streaking Blue Jays and their loaded lineup. For today's rendition of morning baseball, we are deprived of ace Sonny Gray who will miss today's start with non-serious back spasms. In his place is the physically exhausted and likely now jetlagged Jesse Chavez.

The A's used Felix Doubront yesterday to mop up Aaron Brooks' ugly outing, so look for Chavez to work deep into the game to save the pen. Should this not happen, get ready for some exciting Drew Pomeranz or Arnold Leon action. These are exciting times, folks.

Game Time is at 9:37am (PDT). Let's go A's!
