The Oakland Athletics will recall corner infielder Max Muncy to take Ben Zobrist's place on the active roster, according to the lineup card tweeted by the San Francisco Chornicle's Susan Slusser before Thursday night's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Zobrist was traded to the Kansas City Royals earlier Tuesday.

The A's don't have a lot of position player depth at the moment due to the injuries that have piled up for the club. Muncy and Craig Gentry were the only healthy position players on the 40-man roster in Triple-A going into Tuesday, though left fielder Coco Crisp has begun a rehabilitation assignment with the High-A Stockton Ports. Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that utility player Tyler Ladendorf could be available by the end of the month.
Muncy has struggled since returning to Triple-A after several injuries enabled him to play with the club from late April to late June. In his last 22 games with Nashville he is hitting .211/.294/.382 with three home runs and four doubles in 85 plate appearances. He has struck out 22 times and walked nine times.
