Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Jesse Hahn will not pick up a baseball for at least a month, he informed beat reporters before Friday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Hahn received a second opinion from physicians in Los Angeles:

Hahn says he received a second opinion on elbow and will be shut down for more than a month. Ligaments intact but dealing with inflammation.

Melvin said Hahn will have a PRP injection Tuesday and there's no timetable for his return.

It was initially hoped that Hahn would be shut down for just two weeks before beginning a rehab program to return before season's end, but even that is in doubt. Hahn has made 16 starts for the A's and has a 3.35 ERA.
The A's are currently operating with an eight-man bullpen as the team does not need a fifth starter until July 25. Chris Bassitt, who has made three spot starts in recent weeks, will be recalled at that point.

A previous edition of this post quoted a tweet that purported to attribute the odds of Sean Doolittle returning this season to manager Bob Melvin. This could not be confirmed, and so the quote has been removed.
