Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Jesse Hahn will not pick up a baseball for at least a month, he informed beat reporters before Friday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Hahn received a second opinion from physicians in Los Angeles:

It was initially hoped that Hahn would be shut down for just two weeks before beginning a rehab program to return before season's end, but even that is in doubt. Hahn has made 16 starts for the A's and has a 3.35 ERA.
The A's are currently operating with an eight-man bullpen as the team does not need a fifth starter until July 25. Chris Bassitt, who has made three spot starts in recent weeks, will be recalled at that point.
