Game Thread #90: Oakland A's at Cleveland Indians

The Athletics face the Indians in Game 2 of this three-game set from Progressive Field in Cleveland. First pitch is set for 3:35 PM Pacific Time.

Chris Bassitt will make his third start of the season for the Oakland Athletics, this time in place of the injured Jesse Hahn. Hahn was placed on the disabled list today retroactive to July 2 with a forearm strain. Opposing Bassitt is right-hander Carlos Carrasco for the Cleveland Indians. Carrasco owns a 10-7 record with a 4.17 ERA. While Carrasco has consistently racked up strikeouts, he has been inconsistent in keeping runners off the bases when they do put balls in play. His .340 BABIP against is fourth highest among 49 qualified American League starters.

In today's Athletics lineup, Brett Lawrie gets the day off with Eric Sogard playing third base for the first time since July 31, 2012. He started 12 games at third base that year and has 20 major league career starts at third base. Sogard also played 18 games at third base in the minor leagues.

Stephen Vogt returns to the lineup after getting the day off yesterday. Sam Fuld remains on the bench, with Mark Canha starting again in left field.

For the Indians, backup catcher Roberto Perez starts in place of Yan Gomes.
