Game Thread #70: Oakland Athletics vs. Los Angeles Angels

New, 303 comments

It's a rematch for the A's and Angels as Sonny Gray, who has been excellent against the Angels--and everyone else this season so far--will take on Matt Shoemaker; whom the A's had success against in their last start. The deliriously happy, sun-drenched city of Oakland will continue the party with an early start time, and fireworks, here at 6:35.

Good afternoon and welcome to Friday night baseball, fireworks edition! I hope you all had the chance to watch a real-live Oakland parade, leaving the city drenched in blue and gold confetti. One day--and I have to believe this--it will be green and gold and come with all the feels. If you haven't yet read Billy Frijoles' poignant piece on the long-suffering Warriors and A's fans, it's definitely worth a read.

In other news today, the A's activated Ike Davis and Edward Mujica from the disabled list, designated Andy Parrino for assignment and optioned Arnold Leon to Triple-A. The boys are back together, and the A's clearly elected to keep Muncy with the big club. In fact, the A's wasted no time in getting Ike back in the lineup; he's batting sixth, and even with most of the pieces back, Sogard is still in the lineup at second base.

Here are your lineups behind Sonny Gray:
