Good evening and Happy Friday to you all! We come at you live from Anaheim; well, just north of Anaheim, since I'm at my house, recapping the game for all of you tonight, and we have an exciting game on tap for you tonight as the A's take on the Angels.
Today's unexpected A's news is obviously that Pat Venditte has gone on the DL with a right shoulder strain. No one seems to appreciate my suggestion of him just pitching with the other one in the meantime (ba dum dum), but it's a loss of a good arm(s) for the A's and an effective bullpen player, a unicorn so far this early season. The A's will have to do without his services for a couple of weeks at least.
Tonight's game will feature run-support-starved Jesse Chavez, coming off a rare rough outing. He will be dueling Hector Santiago, who's had a pretty good year so far for the Angels.
Billy Butler is back in the A's lineup tonight, batting fifth, or as many would say, "not low enough". Semien has been dropped to ninth, as his defensive miscues are leaking over to his offense.
