The baseball gods are doing everything they can to give the Yankees the short hops -- Vogt missed a 3-run homer by a couple feet, Burns had a hit come to rest one foot in front of home plate, Lawrie caught a smoking liner but it popped out the top of his glove, and the Yanks used a dinky bouncer up the middle to get their second run. But Jesse Hahn and the A's are staying strong. Oakland leads 3-2 entering the bottom of the 5th.
