Game Thread #43: Oakland Athletics at Tampa Bay Rays

New, comments

Another day, another series; this time in Tampa Bay, as the Oakland Athletics and their 14-28 record, take on the Tampa Bay Rays, who have started the season much better than they. Jesse Chavez will be the starting pitcher tasked with keeping the Rays off the board long enough for the A's to score enough runs to win the game after surviving a bullpen collapse. We're not pretending otherwise, are we?

Good afternoon and Happy Friday! Welcome to Tampa Bay, Florida, where we're going to be spending the weekend virtually, watching the A's try to beat the Rays to get back on the winning path for the season. Can it be done? Can this lineup break the streak of awful play? A quick glance at the A's most recent games would say "no", but since we have to come out for 120 more of these games this season, it sure would be nice if the A's gave us something to root for.

I love Burns leading off, and Semien, Reddick and Vogt have been our hitters, even if Butler is gumming up the works in the middle. The second half of the lineup does look a bit suspect, but I'd like Muncy to succeed.

Jesse Chavez will try to continue his string of good starts as he faces off against Alex Colome.

Here are your lineups:
