Oakland Athletics first baseman exited Monday night's contest against the Boston Red Sox after hitting a leadoff double in the bottom of the fourth inning. The A's announced that Davis left the game with a strained left quadriceps, according to the Bay Area News Group's Jimmy Durkin. After the game, manager Bob Melvin said that a trip to the disabled list will probably not be needed:
Melvin said Ike Davis' injury doesn't look like a DL type injury. Maybe a couple days and he could possibly pinch-hit #Athletics

Davis was running slow going to second base on his double. After a visit from Bob Melvin and a trainer, he remained in the game and advanced to third base on a Brett Lawrie single. In the middle of Marcus Semien's plate appearance, the A's replaced Davis with corner infielder Max Muncy, who remained in the game at first base.
