Good evening and welcome to game two of the season. Everything is so fresh, so new, so fun, and unlike every year for the last 10, the A's are not starting the season in a 0-1 hole. Instead, along with the Astros and the Mariners, the A's have a share atop the AL West.
Jesse Hahn will take the mound in his A's debut tonight, in the shadow of Sonny Gray's near-no-hit bid last night. Somehow I don't think the rules of "anything you can do, I can do better" really applies; with Hahn's history, I imagine he is on a strict pitch count not only tonight, but for the rest of the season.
The A's lineup will be facing right-hander Colby Lewis, a pitcher that A's fans have seen frequently, but this is a new A's team. MLB.com helpfully points out that Josh Reddick and Coco Crisp have racked up considerable at-bats against Lewis, and that is not going to matter for the team today.
Super Sam Fuld has slid into the leadoff spot in tonight's lineup, followed by Eric Sogard. Craig Gentry, who did look lost at the plate last night, has been dropped to ninth.
Here are the rest of the lineups for today's game:
LET'S GO OAK-LAND!
