Oakland Athletics super-utility man Ben Zobrist exited Sunday's contest against the Kansas City Royals with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning with left knee soreness, the A's announced. He is day-to-day. Zobrist left under his own power, escorted by manager Bob Melvin and an A's trainer. Eric Sogard replaced him at second base.
Sogard will most likely take over second base duties until Zobrist returns, though that would be the wrong way platoon when the A's face Angels probables Hector Santiago on Tuesday and C.J. Wilson on Thursday.
