The 5-5, yet first place in the West, Oakland Athletics take on the Kansas City Royals tonight. The A's have played like a first place team in several games so far this young season, while at the same time have also done enough to earn their 5-5 record, so it's a little like a box full of chocolates in the early going. Meanwhile, Kansas City has picked up right where they left off, storming the playoffs, nearly rescuing the princess, but ultimately failing on the very last play of the season. They have shot out to a 7-2 start, not even enough for first place in their own division, but look to keep pace with Detroit in this weekend series. The A's might have something to say about that, assuming they can put together their impressive hitting and pitching on the same day, while involving the bullpen as little as possible.
The A's ace Sonny Gray will be on the mound in this one, looking to earn his second win of the year. The A's hitters will face Jeremy Guthrie, and all is right in the world, since the winning combo of Fuld, Canha, Zobrist, Butler, Davis, Vogt, Lawrie, Reddick and Semien are starting. Let's see if we can put up some runs.
