The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports that trade talks regarding infielder Brett Lawrie are heating up:
In her full story, Slusser says, "Lawrie was close to being moved to the White Sox for a pair of minor leaguers late Tuesday night."
By Tuesday morning, the Angels, Tigers, and Indians were said to be exploring options other than Lawrie. The thought that Lawrie could be a fit with the Yankees went away after New York acquired Starlin Castro from the Cubs in the afternoon. The White Sox were the last of the five teams reportedly connected to Lawrie discussions.
UPDATE 12/9 8:45AM: The clubs are still working out the terms of a deal to trade Brett Lawrie to the White Sox this morning, Slusser tweets:
MLB.com's Phil Rogers added earlier this morning:
It's unclear who #WhiteSox would send to Oakland for Brett Lawrie. But OFs Avisail Garcia, Trayce Thompson, Adam Engel, Jacob May in talks.
