The Los Angeles Angels have talked with the Oakland Athletics about third baseman Brett Lawrie, reports Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Fletcher reports that the Angels are looking for upgrades at second and third base, with third base the biggest need with David Freese entering free agency. Fletcher says Freese is the top choice at third base for the Angels, "but his market is moving slowly."
Beyond Freese, turning 33 next season, and Juan Uribe, turning 37, the free agent third base market is quite thin, and a high-potential inexpensive and younger third baseman may be more interesting to the Angels as they seek improvement on their third place finish in 2015.
The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser earlier linked the Tigers, White Sox, and Indians as clubs interested in a Lawrie acquisition, and the Yankees as seen as a possible fit at second base.
Meanwhile, Brett Lawrie is quoting Drake lyrics:
Past behind me like a ponytail #RHand

UPDATE (7:07 PM): Nah.
I'm hearing that while the #Angels may have called on Brett Lawrie, they don't have a ton of interest now.
