The Perfect Guide to the As competing this season

The perfect As guide to contending this season. This is all very hopeful by the way just a list of trades and free agents we need to pick up.

1st: Sign Kenta Maeda to a 5 year 64 million contract

Reasoning: Thats very pricey for the usually stingy As but signing him could be a huge difference for a variety of reasons.

The first season is that it rebuilds faith in the franchise, many fans have been very upset with their moves over the last few years. While i am not one of those fans it would still be a good reason to sign him.

The second reason is that it would bring a lot more people into the stadium to see this young new pitcher and would sell a lot more tickets.

Third reason it would show the players on the team that they are planning to contend this season with out a doubt.

The forth reason is while he lacks Darvishs upside or Tanakas he has a chance to be a very good 2nd starter and he wouldn't cost a draft pick. While a few could argue that Kazmir doesn't cost a draft pick either so why don't we just sign him. Well the reason is he's significantly younger and doesn't have any history of injuries. I love Kazmir but i think this deal would not only be better in the long term but in the short term as well.

2nd: Sign Pedro Alvarez to a 3 year 25 Million deal.

Reasoning: The As lack a true bonafide power hitter who pitchers fear and that is Pedros MO in every way. Him hitting over 35 Homeruns next season would not be surprised, and it would turn DH from a weakness into a strength. It would also just make our lineup significantly better.

The best thing about this is that he's going to be relatively cheap so we should jump on that immediately. Sign him for a few years and then flip him once his value is at its highest.

3rd: Sign Ryan Madson, Steve Cisneck, Ryan Vogelsong, Greg Holland, and Shawn Kelly.

Ryan Madson 3 Year 17 Million

Steve Cisneck 2 years 7 Million

Ryan Vogelsong 2 years 2.5 Million

Shawn Kelly 3 years 12 million

Greg Holland 4 years 25 Million

Ryan Madson: We would plug madison into the 7th inning role and let him dominate like he should. While 17 million might be a high amount for a guy just returning to the league, but it would be worth it. I would also rather pay for 4 pitchers then just get Darren O'Day who will more expansive then all of them put together most likely.

Numbers:

3.21 Era

0-3

71 Innings

85 Strikeouts

1.23 Whip

.215 BAA

1 Save

Those numbers are very possible for the old elite closer and would definitely be worth it to sign him if he can post those numbers.

Steve Cisneck: He would immediately become our setup man and our closer is Doolittle gets hurt again. A bullpen with him, Doolittle, and Ryan Madson would truly filthy. I wholly expect him to return to his 2014 numbers. The best thing is that he's most likely going to be cheap so we need to sign him while we can.

Numbers:

2.37 Era

2-3 Wins

5 Saves

.231 BAA

1.29 Whip

66 Innings

85 Strikeouts

If he can return to his 2014 numbers those are very realistic and would make our bullpen a strength again, which would be something we would all be happy to see.

Ryan Vogelsong: He's in my opinion significantly better then Doubrant and has much more experience as well. Hes pitched in the world series, the all star game, japan, for both good teams, and bad teams. Very few players can attest to that. But he's going to be very cheap we could get him for a very reasonable price.

Numbers:

3.67 Era

7-3 Wins

98 Innings

2.33 BAA

1.36 Whip

67 Strikeouts

Solid numbers for the long man in the bullpen, and would definitely be a steal for the amount we would be paying him.

Shawn Kelly: He could either share the 7th inning duties with Ryan Madson or he could just be in the bullpen either way it would be a great signing. He's one of the most underrated relief pitchers and would be a great addition to a team needing help in their bullpen.

Numbers:

2.32 Era

5-4 Wins

.201 BAA

1.01 Whip

76 Innings

91 Strikeouts

Those numbers would be awesome, and would give us a terrifyingly good bullpen arguably one of the best in the league.

Greg Holland: He would just be a good signing for the future while that may be a high amount of money, it would be worth it if he can became the player he was with the royals.

4th: Designate Coco Crisp

Reasoning: The way i see it Coco Crisp will just immediately get hurt so whats the point of even having him on the roster, Id much rather have a spot available for another player who can play much better.

5th: Trade Billy Butler, and Brett Lawrie to the Whitesoxs For Adam LaRouche, Francelis Montas, and Spencer Adams.

Reasoning: The Whitesox get Brett Lawrie who could immediately handle either second or third and the As get two exciting prospects. It would also be a swap of bad contracts in the way of Butler and LaRouche.

6th: Trade LaRouche +5.5 Million to the Orioles for Chance Sisco

Reasoning: We would get an impact prospect and the Orioles get someone who can crush at their ballpark. Doing this also lets Alvarez become the full time Dh which would just make us better.

7th: Sign Jimmy Rollins 2 year 6 Million

Reasoning: We get a solid back up in Rollins and he could be a great mentor to Semian. It would also let us move Eric Sogard, which would make our team slightly better.

Numbers:

235/305/377

13 Homeruns

41 Rbis

52 Runs

15 Stolen Bases

36 Walks

Pretty solid numbers that would soon make us entirely forget about Eric Sogard.

8th: Trade for Justin Turner

Trade: Danny Valencia, Eric Sogard, and Sean Nolin for Justin Turner.

Reasoning: This would let them move Seager to his better defensive position of 3rd base and would allow them to pursue a player like Ian Desmond to take over shortstop. Eric Sogard would give them some depth at second and Nolin could move into the Rotation. As Danny Valencia could move over to second or third depending on their preference.

And we would get a great player who perfectly represents the Oakland As spirt. A player who was cut from one team and then turned into an Allstar and Justin Turner is just a awesome player as well.

Numbers:

296/386/527

22 Homeruns

33 Doubles

2 Triples

95 Rbis

78 Runs

75 Walks

7 Stolenbases

Overall a tremendous year and would be a great trade for the As, while we would only have him for a year it would be worth it for sure.

9th: Austin Jackson 2 years 10 million

Reasoning: We would get an impact outfielder who can field all three positions and would give us a much better back up for centerfield. This signing would mean the ending of the Supersam era as sad as that would be.

Numbers:

263/307/384

11 Homeruns

42 Rbis

52 Runs

18 Stolen bases

Great numbers for a utility outfielder and would be a solid signing. It would give us a much better offensive team, and in the case Billy Burns got hurt more insurance.

10th: Trade Sam Fuld, R.J Alvarez to the Padres for Dinelson Lamet.

Reasoning: The Padres get someone who can handle Centerfield very well, and they get Alvarez back which could intrigue them. We get a prospect for with a ton of upside in what would be a great trade.

11th: Will Middlebrooks 2 years 3.5 Million

Reasoning: He would only be a backup infielder which could turn out to be a good signing if bush can fix his swing like he did so many others.

Numbers:

245/317/421

10 Homeruns

17 Doubles

3 Triples

33 Rbis

31 Runs

3 Stolen Bases

18 Walks

Solid numbers for our back up infielder also he could back up the entire infield he's fielder everyone one at the major league level so far.

Now here is the Lineups, the rotation, and the bullpen.

Rotation:

2nd: Kenta Maeda

3rd: Kendal Gravemen

4th: Chris Bassit

5th: Rich Hill

Bullpen:

9th: Sean Doolittle

8th: Steve Cisneck

7th: Ryan Madson

6th: Shawn Kelly

5th: Liam Hendricks

4th: Aaron Brooks

3rd: Ryan Vogelsong

Reasoning: This would very easily give us the chance to win the west, if not the chance to go to series with a elite rotation, offense, and bullpen.

I would predict a 94-68 season which could very easily give us the west. Now this would be paying a lot of money out into the bullpen but this offseason they said money was no an issue so why not spend a bunch on the worst part of the team.

Now we would have a payroll from 85^ million but most of that would be shed in two years then we can immediately extend our young talent by then. I hope you enjoyed this. Thank you for reading.
