Left-handed pitcher Fernando Abad and outfielder Craig Gentry have cleared waivers and were outrighted to the Nashville Sounds today, the Oakland Athletics announced. Both players had the right to elect free agency as players with more than three years of major league service time.

Whether Gentry and Abad remain in the organization is still to be determined, as the A's still must decide on Wednesday, December 2 whether to tender contracts to the two, who are both arbitration eligible. MLB Trade Rumors projects Gentry would earn $1.6 million at arbitration while Abad would earn $1.5 million. If not, they would become free agents after Wednesday's non-tender deadline.

The A's must also decide whether to offer contracts to arbitration-eligible players Ike Davis, Sam Fuld, Josh Reddick, Danny Valencia, Eric Sogard, Brett Lawrie, Felix Doubront, Fernando Rodriguez, Jarrod Parker, Drew Pomeranz, and Evan Scribner.
