Game Thread #151: Oakland Athletics vs. Texas Rangers

New, comments

Don't worry, the A's still control their own destiny. Unless that's not a good thing. Is it a good thing? Will the A's go to the playoffs? All the coin flips in the world won't make a difference here; you're just going to have to watch the games, and more often than not, that's unfortunate.

So here we are again. You guys. So brave. So dedicated. So passionate to join me here, day after day, not knowing what to expect from the game. No, seriously. Having no idea what to expect. Will the motley crew of Crisp, Fuld, Donaldson, and wait...why is Jonny Gomes batting fourth? WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE! At least Norris is DH'ing and not catching. That privilege is reserved for Geovany Soto. One can only imagine that Jeff Samardzija threatened to strike if he didn't have a different catcher.

Speaking of Samardzija, he's going to try to out-duel Derek Holland as the A's offense will try to score enough runs to win a baseball game. It's apparently incredibly hard. Twelve games to go. The A's, incredibly, improbably, fantastically, but not magically, are somehow still in this race. I know, I know. We're losing faithful members by the day, but let's be honest, what do you really have to do for the next twelve games. Come for the circus, stay for the pie.

Here are your lineups:
