Game Thread #101: Oakland Athletics vs. Houston Astros

After last night's roller-coaster win and this morning's dramatic announcement, the A's will try for the series win behind Jeff Samardzija, and the A's would like him to go deep into the game.

Well, in case you missed this morning's announcement, Jim Johnson is no longer on the team, and cannot come out of the bullpen. For those of you who attended the game in person last night, or watched on TV or GameDay, this is probably a very relieving thought, no pun intended.

Because of last night's near-disaster, the A's bullpen was heavily taxed in what should have been a blowout. As a result, here is the bullpen plan for today:

So here's to a complete game shutout; no pressure.

Notably missing from the lineup, although it is no surprise to anyone who watched his fourth at-bat last night, is Yoenis Cespedes, but it might not be as bad as we all feared:

Brandon Moss is starting today, so that's a good sign after his possible tweak last night, as well. All three catchers are in the lineup; the trio of Jaso, Norris and Vogt are ready to go, as Moss has been pushed to the outfield. Sogard, after a hot night last night, will cover second base.

Here are your lineups:
