The Athletics placed infielder Alberto Callaspo on the 15-day disabled list today. They have recalled infielder Andy Parrino from the Sacramento River Cats.

In the July 11 game against the Seattle MarinersCallaspo exited in the second inning with a right hamstring strain (video). With the All-Star Break, a minimum stay on the DL means Callaspo will miss the remaining two games against Seattle, the six-game homestand against the Baltimore Orioles and Houston Astros, and the first two games of the road trip against the Texas Rangers.

Parrino, 28, previously appeared on the A's active roster from June 13-15 while Callaspo left the team for three days on paternity leave. Parrino has just 236 plate appearances over four seasons in the major leagues, with a .185/.295/.245 line. Since being re-claimed off waivers from the Texas Rangers on April 21, Parrino is batting .302/.375/.432 for the River Cats with seven home runs, 33 walks, and 67 strikeouts in 321 plate appearances.
