Game Thread #69: Oakland Athletics vs. New York Yankees

New, comments

The A's try to win the series against the Yankees in the rubber match of the series this afternoon at the Coliseum with almost their entire team in a slump.

Happy Father's Day! Whether you have one, are one, or help in any way with any father-like duties, thank you for all you do for the next generation.

Well, it's feast or famine here at Athletics Nation, as the A's somehow have a chance to win the series against the Yankees today, and no one is really sure how.

That is...not good.

You know what else is not good? Tequila shots. Not to get personal on the blog or anything (haha, who am I kidding?), thank you to Nico for hosting the Friday night game thread, because that would have been an experience you all should not have shared with me, as I hosted a girls' night in, and nearly kept the entire neighborhood up until 2:00AM. If you are my neighbor, and reading this, so, so sorry. Also, there was a point in the night when someone obviously changed channels on the TV, and I was really impressed with Sonny Gray's puck handling skills. He nearly scored a goal and everything. Yeah, that kind of night.

So anyway, I am back in action today, and so are we! Our pitching match-up today will feature Jesse Chavez against Vidal Nuno, and when I say the A's might want to break out, today would be a good start. Here are your lineups; the A's have obviously made some changes to try to help the struggling middle. Both Donaldson and Moss have slid down, and we can only hope that things will get better.

Today's Lineups

Brett Gardner - LF Coco Crisp - CF
Derek Jeter - SS Craig Gentry - LF
Jacoby Ellsbury - CF Yoenis Cespedes - DH
Mark Teixeira - 1B Derek Norris - C
Brian McCann - C Jed Lowrie - SS
Carlos Beltran - DH Josh Donaldson - 3B
Ichiro Suzuki - RF Brandon Moss - RF
Y. Solarte - 2B Kyle Blanks - 1B
Kelly Johnson - 3B Nick Punto - 2B
