Game Thread #34: Oakland Athletics vs. Seattle Mariners

Well, it's not exactly how the A's had planned to start the series; down 0-2, with their only chance at a series split with Seattle is a sweep of today's doubleheader, which would mean besting Felix Hernandez in the process, but stranger things have happened, and that's why we watch this stupid sport.

Thearon W. Henderson

Good afternoon, and welcome to a full day of Oakland Athletics baseball! Hopefully it will be a long and satisfying day instead of indeterminable and boring, but the A's have their work cut out for them as they begin a true doubleheader, starting off by facing Felix Hernandez, whom they just cannot seem to beat. The A's have lost most of their games recently, mostly due to the mysterious shutdown of their offense, and things look grim for our heroes as we survey the lineup and the pitching match-up against Felix Hernandez.

The first game will be Dan Straily against Felix Hernandez...just...zoinks. Are you sure we're ready for 6+ hours of A's baseball today? Just think: IT COULD BE WINTER AND THERE WOULD BE NO GAMES.

I, baseballgirl, will be your host for the entire double-dip today, so sit, back, relax, and enjoy the ride. We'll follow this game thread with another one, and I'll get an exact time for Game #2 when we have one.

Here are your lineups:
