Wow, I hope you're all ready for some baseball after last night. What an incredible game -- between the masterful performance by Scott Kazmir and the late game heroics of Josh Donaldson (MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP), it was pretty easily one of the best games of the year. I don't know if we'll get anything like that today, but I'd be okay with a good old-fashioned blowout.
Detroit RHP Rick Porcello (7-2, 3.88) is coming off of one of his worst starts of his career - 5.1 innings, 8 ER. Other than that, he's been pretty effective as a piece of the strong Detroit rotation. And, in a weird statistical quirk, he has not gotten a no decision this year -- that may be because of the strong Detroit lineup giving him plenty of run support, but it's still kinda cool.
Oakland RHP Jesse Chavez (4-2, 2.61) is coming off a similarly subpar start -- 5.1 innings at Toronto, 4 runs, 2 of them earned. He'll look to rebound tonight.
Derek Norris and Jed Lowrie are getting the day off, Cespedes is DHing and Alberto Callaspo's playing first base, for some reason. As for the Tigers... Rajai Davis is getting the day off. Thank god.
