Game Thread #40: A's vs. White Sox

Thearon W. Henderson

Drew Pomeranz (2-1, 1.45 ERA) gets his second start of the season, coming off an impressive appearance in his debut as an Athletics starter on Wednesday. His five innings of shutout ball were enough to unseat Dan Straily as Oakland's fifth starter, and he'll have the opportunity to re-create the magic on what should be an incredibly warm evening at the Coliseum. Opposing him is Chicago's Scott Carroll (1-2, 3.63), who didn't make it through the 5th inning in the White Sox 12-5 loss to their north-side Chicago brethren on Thursday.

Josh Donaldson is getting a rare night off prior to a day game tomorrow, so Alberto Callaspo will man third base. John Jaso will get another opportunity to excel in the leadoff spot as the designated hitter, Derek Norris will catch, and Yoenis Cespedes gets a rare opportunity in the third spot in the order.
